Is Avoderm Safe For Dogs And Cats

Adventure RV

An adventure is our mobile home in two ways:
4 years ago I fell to the expansion of an Iveco Daily in an adventure with an unknown outcome. My first expansion, many ideas and notions of a motor home, which I want to go especially new ground technically. Robust and practical, it should be.
Meanwhile the expansion progressed pretty far. Except for the heater, the technology is complete. And I'm after each trip amazed at how well everything works and how the sometimes adventurous plans work in practice.

The motorhome with its equipment also means that we are thus largely independent of our trips. Of supply stations and campgrounds. Our adventure and wanderlust are set far fewer limitations than a traditional camper. Our recent travels with the Iveco led us to the north to the Baltic Sea and from Hamburg, Croatia, Romania and the French Atlantic coast.

How it looks:
Iveco Daily, long wheelbase, high roof series with internal height 1.94 m, 4.50 m long Innraum , 3.0 l HPT engine, and a mountain of work ahead of me.

The history of the development:
After the awning was built, it was serious. Installation the window requires not only accurate work. There were only 3 holes in the awning, so now had the "scalpel" to be recognized. The first sections in the plate were due. So, cut out 2 time-measure rather than to big or to put the jigsaw in the wrong place.

After the section was equipped with rust protection, the subframe is stuck inside.

the pane, I dress up the inside and can then use the window and the external screw with the inner frame. The outer frame is sealed with large amounts of decalin.

So I am building a little by 4 windows and the similarity with a
motor home is increasing.

Before I can install the ground, must still be attached to the gas tank. A 60-liter tank is housed in Overhang on the left.

For the floor, so to speak, the foundation for the interior, I choose a 19 mm thick 3-layer made of spruce.

Now even the seats and a makeshift bed built so we could with our homemade in the first vacation direction Croatia . start

After the holiday before the holiday. The expansion is continuing and still missing skylights, furniture, fridge, leisure battery, chargers, and more.

First I have to work out the division of the roof surface, thus 3 skylights and solar panels have room. A roof rack will be mounted, to enable the surfboard can travel with later times.

on the front Area of the roof, I mounted the 3 solar cells that should be enough in good weather to charge the batteries.

followed Next, the roof hatches, one above the kitchen, that is roughly in the middle, one for the bathroom and the third to the rear bed.

same time I build in on the crossbar structure, providing the basis for fastening the wall covering and furniture is used. Then the insulation is added. I stick a 20 mm Xtreme insulator on the metal surfaces.

Once the work is finished on the outside wall, the bar frame is screwed completely and the electrical cables and conduits installed are, the wall coverings are installed. To avoid condensation to form in isolation, is under the plywood boards, a vapor barrier film.

between, had the electrical installation to be installed.
The leisure battery should first of the solar cells and External connection from the 230-volt charger. A connection from the alternator to the vehicle battery via a relay, I had not yet dispensed with to make sure that there will be no impairment of vehicle electronics, possibly triggered by the living room installation,

main consumer comes in the electrical circuit is the refrigerator compressor. In order to have enough spare I put in the living area battery at 210 Ah. Quite a chunk, the 80-pound battery that must be stored securely, not that they are in an emergency stop, and at worst a Makes self-collision. The height of the vehicle is to be observed.

the (temporary) arrangement of refrigerator and leisure battery
An under-voltage protection also ensures that the battery is not discharged . between the negative terminal of the battery and the entire electrical system is switched shunt, which supplies the on-board computer with the information necessary this either the charging or discharging, the voltage and the battery level indicates .
Other ads are the level indicators of water and waste water tanks and toilet tanks with ultrasonic transducers.

, the entire electrical system be turned off completely, except with a central on-off switch at the front entry ceiling lights and of course the fridge.

moved slowly closer to the planned vacation and still lacks much of what makes for Iveco motor home.

For the bath I still have not quite figured out, because it should be hygienic with a waterproof floor and walls. We decide to provisionally with waterproof plywood installed a cabin - with marine toilet.

for a functioning water and sanitation installation, the camper does require the fresh water tank a holding tank for the sink in the bathroom, the kitchen, a toilet tank, adjust the overall total of 5 lines and pumps. All these tanks are protected against frost accommodated.

Gradually, I completed the furnishings. It was followed by a tall cabinet with the waste container and the electrical installation, below the 230-volt charger, above the display and control panel.
behind the department with the refrigerator and about the wardrobe. In the fridge there is the leisure battery. It still lacks the cupboard above the kitchen and the cupboard doors and a window shade for the wardrobe.
provide
In the kitchen are three drawers for order
Rear compartment with the cover for the toilet tank (left), the holding tank for the bath (middle), which also supplies the toilet flush and the water and sewer lines on the rear wall of the "wet cell". The white door on the left at the back of the panel containing the connection to the outside shower.
It is the slats for the fixed bed.

We are ready for our RV trip to Romania .

The first major tour has overcome our homemade good. Everything worked. Except for a blown fuse, there was no breakdown, no failures. The development concept is proven. Of course there are opportunities for improvement. The missing wall units, the makeshift bathroom and not quite finished cooking can be desired.
Although in Romania is very little supply and waste disposal, we were never a bottleneck. The capacity of fresh and waste water tank is sufficient. Also, the disposal system has worked.

An interesting question was, of course, how effective the electrical system, especially if the leisure battery is sufficiently charged by solar cells. In addition to the 230-volt charger that was the only charging option. Since then we observe the gauges very carefully in the morning were missing in the battery as 40 -. 50 Ah. At temperatures, some up to 40 ° C, the compressor refrigerator was often in Operation, and at night we are not saved to the lighting. We had, except in the Danube Delta, always good weather, the evening was that the battery fully charged.

Back from vacation I began planning for further expansion. In the form of thinking about the bathroom. Hygienic and water-resistant it should be. The dimensions were not exactly abundant. But between the front seats, the rear bed rear, and the cabinet over, in between the pass, the place was given.
long I had considered the material of which I prepare the walls. The aim was also possible light weight. Finally I decided to fiberglass-clad walls.
The first floor but the tub was to be finished. A complete purchases shower tray did not come into question. Even so, because the chances of finding such a deep drawn part of polystyrene in the right size, very low.
The solution was to produce even a negative form, thus forming the fiberglass tub to measure. With the assistance of a skilled of Polymer Technology I went to work. After weeks of diligent work with saws, drilling, milling and grinding was especially a block that was subsequently form-giving for the bath.
The ultimate lamination by a specialist was finally completed in a few hours. The molded tray has been in sparkling "cast", so that was a cube that I could put in a caravan on the floor.

The tub is just the start rechtzeitg our RV trip to Italy coped. So we are indeed a luxury floor pan but started with the old walls in the bathroom on vacation.

parking space in the vineyards of Tuscany

W hile the mobile home for the winter was shut down, work continued on the bathroom. I built back in the seats and the bathroom walls.

same time, I decided a light machine-battery-charger installed, an idea with which I've been busy a long time. Another piece of independence. We are already often a long time in one place, and so use the generator to load regardless of the weather during the trip, the leisure battery. The A2B charger from Sterling to me by Bruno from Switzerland, who had a Ducato expanded in good planning and execution, had recommended, is directly connected to the generator. The connection between the starting battery and alternator is disconnected. The charger supplies both the living room and the starting battery.
The maximum charging voltage is now at the Startbatterei at 13.9 volts, the leisure battery, a gel battery that is loaded after IUoU0 characteristic, at 14.5 volts.

Sterling alternator-battery-charger

So I had to follow charging options:
Normally, the starting battery of the A2B-loader from the alternator loaded. For example, during long periods I can switch the charge either through the solar system or through the 230-volt charger.
The leisure battery is charged not only by the 230-volt charger and the solar system while driving through the A2B-loader.

To improve the driving behavior I have subsequently installed on the rear axle, an auxiliary air spring, a Linnepe VB SemiAir of VB Airsuspension .

be continued ....
